Teacher Assistant
Part Time
Salary Range: $16.00-$17.00
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have the required DCF 45 hrs. state-required Early Childhood training classes
- CDA or equivalency credential (within one year of employment
- One year of experience in childcare.
- Successfully complete Background screening and reference check.
Physical Requirements:
- Safely lift small children up to thirty pounds
- Bend, stoop and kneel at children’s level
- Sit on the floor and in child-sized chairs
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Withstand periods of time in the sun and heat outside
Essential Duties:
- Arrive on time neatly groomed, well prepared and in good spirits
- Maintain good communication with the Assistant Director or Director regarding assignments
- Do a daily health check for all children under your care
- Clean and sanitize all toys and equipment
- Keep classroom supplies and toys organized
- Lead children in a variety of activities including books, songs, games and art projects
- Ensure the safety of children at all times
- Assist children with routine daily tasks, including eating, toileting, playing, washing faces and hands, and resting
- Prepare food, snacks and bottles as needed
- Maintain confidentiality
- Comply with parent requests as much as possible
- Establish and enforce appropriate rules of behavior using “I Care” character education curriculum as well as “Wee Learn” Christian curriculum
- Identify signs of neglect or abuse and report immediately to the lead teacher or the director
- Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry and cleaning
- Maintain a positive environment which encourages each child’s self-esteem and personal development
- Maintain an open connection with parents
- Attend all staff meetings and training
- Complete accident/incident reports as needed
- Develop working relationships with lead teachers and perform any tasks requested
- Perform any other duties as requested by the Director or Assistant Director
